It’s finally here. The best time of the year. After months of school and poor weather, the sun is shining and it’s time to celebrate. Trading in the books for a towel and a seat on the boat it is time to get a job and enjoy the long nights and weekends. Here are some new songs and albums to make your summer a little more enjoyable than it already is.
Reggae:
Summer is all about feel good vibes. Luckily the Southern California reggae group Rebelution recently released a new album titled Count Me In, and it does not disappoint. It is chalked full of great summer songs that you can throw on at BBQ or on the boat. Standout tracks include, De-stress, Notice Me, and Against The Grain.
Another group that has grabbed my attention this summer is the band Tribal Seeds. They have a more island feel, and are great for any summer occasion.
Rap:
As far as Hip-Hop goes there is plenty of summer anthems. For relaxing summer rhymes Asher Roth’s new album Retro Hash is fantastic. Asher was known for his party anthem I Love College, but he has chilled out and put together a compilation of chill summer bangers. Pull It, Dude, Fast Life and Be Right are all bound to start your summer kickback off on the right foot.
There is also lots of new music coming out from Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Migos, Riff Raff who all have new music coming out.
Rock:
After coming back from Sasquatch Music Festival, my new favorite band is Portugal The Man. They were fantastic live. They sounded great, had amazing stage presence and their visuals were awesome. People Say is their hit song, but they have lots of other great albums and EP’s. A very expansive collection of music.
