Snapchats Value Skyrocketing (Blog #12)

Phones are now used for texting and apps more than calls these days, but one of the most popular applications over the past couple of years is Snapchat. The App was made by 23 year old Evan Spiegal who is currently a Stanford and the rest has been history. Snapchat has become a part of every day life. It is estimated that 350 million snapchat pictures are sent each and every day! That is close to the amount of pictures posted on Facebook. Only 55 million pictures are posted on Instagram each day, so Snapchat is clearly doing something right. Most importantly it is rumored that Snapchat is worth 3.5 billion dollars. Let me repeat, a free mobile application that is based on users sending pictures is estimated to be worth 3.5 billion dollars. It is safe to say that Stanford has done it again with their students creating great things. It is going to be interesting to see what will happen to this company. Maybe users will get tired of sending silly pictures to friends, but if the app keeps evolving and offering new features for users then this app could have a long and rich future.
